Chisinau Airport (KIV) to the city
A single ride on any Chisinau bus or trolleybus is 6 lei, the flat tariff since 1 July 2022, and it covers the suburbs as well as the city.
- A single journey costs 6 lei on a trolleybus or a bus, the flat tariff set on 1 July 2022, and it applies in the suburbs at the same price.
- Passes cut the cost up to five times over for anyone travelling often, and they are valid on trolleybuses and buses alike.
- Trolleybus 30 runs into the centre and bus 165 also serves the airport.
- The airport is about 13 km southeast of Chisinau.
- Use Yandex Go or iTaxi rather than the rank, where the price is a negotiation.
- Fares are paid on board, so carry small notes.
- Iasi in Romania is about three hours away and is a common alternative, more so since Romania joined Schengen in 2025.
What the ride costs
| Ticket | Price |
|---|---|
| Single journey, trolleybus or bus, city or suburbs | 6 lei |
- One flat fare covers the whole network, including the suburban routes, so the airport is not priced differently from anywhere else.
- The 6 lei tariff took effect on 1 July 2022 and is set by the city, not by the operators.
- Passes reduce the price by up to five times depending on how many journeys and how long they run for, which only matters on a long stay.
- Pay on board. Carry small notes.
The routes
- Trolleybus 30 runs from the airport into the centre.
- Bus 165 also serves the terminal.
- Both are ordinary city services, not an airport express, so they stop everywhere.
Taxis
- Use Yandex Go or iTaxi rather than the rank. At the rank the price is a negotiation and you will lose it.
Distance and alternatives
- The airport is about 13 km south east of the centre.
- Iasi in Romania is about three hours away by road and often has cheaper flights, more so since Romania joined Schengen in 2025.
