Ljubljana Airport (LJU) to the city
Bus 28 costs EUR 3.30 on weekdays and EUR 1.30 at weekends, and Venice or Trieste may serve your destination better.
- Public bus 28 runs to Ljubljana bus station in about 45 minutes.
- The fare is EUR 3.30 on weekdays and EUR 1.30 at weekends. That is not a misprint, and it is the opposite of the usual pattern.
- Buses are not frequent - check the departure before you settle in with a coffee.
- Shuttle minibuses run door to door for more, and are worth it in a group.
- Venice, Trieste, Klagenfurt and Zagreb all serve parts of Slovenia as well as Ljubljana does - compare including the transfer.

- About 45 minutes between the airport and Ljubljana's bus station, next to the railway station.

- The service is infrequent and is loosely timed to flights rather than running to a dense timetable.
- Shuttle operators such as Nomago run door-to-door minibuses, booked ahead, which make sense for two or more people with luggage.
Consider the neighbours
Slovenia is small and four foreign airports sit close to it.
- Venice Marco Polo and Treviso - two to three hours by coach, and often much cheaper.
- Trieste - closer to the Slovenian coast than Ljubljana is.
- Klagenfurt for the north, Zagreb for the south-east.
- For Piran or the Karst, Trieste is the obvious arrival and almost nobody checks it.
Taxis
- Metered, and the airport is about 25 km from the city - a substantial fare by Slovenian standards.
