The taxi fares are published by zone and they are per two people. Learn your number before you reach the kerb.
The published taxi tariff
- Fares are set by zone and printed by the airport. Taxis wait outside the US, International and Domestic terminals.
- Every quoted fare is for two passengers. Each additional passenger is USD 5.00.
- Two pieces of luggage per person are included, meaning one suitcase and one carry-on. Each extra piece is USD 2.20, and oversized bags, golf bags and boxes are USD 3.30. Children under three are free.

- The Bahamas Taxi Cab Union is on 242-323-5818 if a fare does not match the tariff.
Other ways out
- The airport is about 16 km, ten miles, west of downtown Nassau.
- Public buses are not permitted to operate at the airport. The jitneys that run the island do not come here, so it is a taxi, a rental car, a rideshare or a hotel transfer.
- Avis, Hertz, Budget, Dollar and Thrifty all have desks at the airport.
- Atlantis, Baha Mar and Sandals Royal Bahamian have their own transport desks in the arrivals terminal.
Times that matter
- Airport security opens at 6am and closes at 10pm in the domestic and international terminals. In the US departures terminal, security and US Customs open at 6am.
- Arrive 3 hours before an international flight and 2 hours before a domestic one, which is the airport's own advice and reflects the preclearance queue.
- Free wifi throughout, on LPIA Free WiFi, after a short form.
Flying home to the United States
- LPIA has a US Customs and Border Protection preclearance facility. You clear US immigration and customs at Nassau and land in the States as a domestic arrival, which removes the queue at the other end.
- It also has TSA PreCheck, Mobile Passport Control, Global Entry and Automated Passport Control kiosks. Download the Mobile Passport Control app before you get to the airport if you are entitled to use it.
- Build the extra time in. Preclearance is a full immigration process on the departures side, which is exactly why the airport says three hours.
