- Roads are free and the CA-5 between Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula is the main artery.
- Do not drive at night between cities. This is the standing official advice and the local practice, for both road and security reasons.
- The alcohol limit is 0.07 %.
- The Bay Islands are reached by ferry or plane and a car is of little use on Roatan, where taxis and scooters do the work.
- Police and military checkpoints are common and documents are checked routinely.
- Roads to the Copan ruins and the north coast are paved and straightforward in daylight; the mountain routes are not.
