The mobile country code

  • Kosovo has its own country code, +383, since 2017. Before that its networks used Monaco and Slovenian numbers, which is why old contact details look strange.

Manners

  • Hospitality is emphatic, as in Albania.
  • Coffee is a long social event and Pristina's cafe culture is genuinely excellent.
  • Both mosques and Orthodox churches stand in the same towns. Treat the Serbian Orthodox monasteries - Decani, Gracanica - as working religious sites; some are under KFOR protection and have security procedures.
