Kumasi (KMS): six kilometres out, and Uber and Bolt both work
The airport is almost in the city. A taxi or an app ride to Adum takes 15 to 30 minutes and there is no airport bus to wait for.

Getting into town
- This is a short hop. The airport sits about 6 km from the city centre, and the reason a ride takes 15 to 30 minutes is Kumasi traffic rather than the distance.
- Adum is the central district and the reference point most drivers will use; Manhyia Palace is the other.
- Taxis and ride-hailing both work. Uber and Bolt operate in Kumasi, which is worth knowing because it fixes the price before you get in.
- There is no published airport tariff here. Accra's airport prints its metered rate; Kumasi does not, so agree the number first with a street taxi.
The cheap way, honestly
- Tro-tros are the shared minibuses the city runs on and they are a fraction of a taxi fare.
- They do not come to the terminal door. You walk out to a road and find a route heading your way, which is fine with a daypack and unpleasant with a suitcase.
The terminal
- The new terminal is a recent build with check-in counters, security, waiting lounges, shops and a VIP lounge, and it was designed for around a million passengers a year.
- Free wifi, ATMs, currency exchange and a medical centre are all in the building.
- Two boarding bridges, which for a domestic airport of this size is generous.
What flies here
- Kumasi is a domestic airport in practice. Africa World Airlines and PassionAir run the Accra route, which is the busiest in Ghana, and there are services north to Wa.
- Accra is under an hour in the air and five or so by road, which is why the shuttle is so frequent.
