Malta Airport (MLA) to Valletta and the resorts

- Route X4 runs directly to Valletta, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, taking 25 to 45 minutes.
- A single fare is around EUR 2.50 in cash.
- The 7-day Explore card is around EUR 21 and pays for itself in about three days of ordinary use.
- Kiosks in the arrivals hall sell tourist cards around the clock - buy it before you leave the building.
- X1, X2 and X3 cover the rest of the island - Cirkewwa for the Gozo ferry, Sliema and St Julian's, and Bugibba.
The buses
- The airport is about 8 km from Valletta. Nothing on Malta is far from anything.
- X4 to Valletta, 24 hours a day.
- X1 to Cirkewwa for the Gozo ferry.
- X2 to Sliema and St Julian's.
- X3 to Bugibba and the north.
- Buses are the whole transport system here - there is no rail and no metro, and the network genuinely reaches every village.
Buy the card in arrivals
- Kiosks sell the tourist cards 24 hours a day, which is the moment to buy one.
- The 7-day Explore card, around EUR 21, gives unlimited travel and covers the airport routes.
- Note that Tallinja Direct (TD) routes are excluded from the free-travel concessions and charge separately.
Taxis
- The airport has a fixed-fare taxi desk with prices posted by destination.
- Bolt and eCabs both operate and are cheap over these distances.
