A business-driven hotel market that empties at weekends - the opposite of most of Europe.
The weekday city
- Luxembourg City is a financial and institutional centre and its hotels are priced for that.
- Midweek is expensive; weekends are much cheaper - the reverse of most European city breaks.
- Book a Friday or Saturday night and the same room can be half the price.
Beyond the capital
- The Mullerthal ("Little Switzerland") and the Ardennes north have guesthouses and are the reason to stay more than two nights.
- The Moselle valley is wine country and quiet.
- Free transport makes staying outside the capital genuinely practical - a village 40 minutes away costs nothing extra to reach.
Practicalities
- You will be asked for your passport at check-in.
- A small city tax applies in the capital.
