Health, insurance and where to be treated
No vaccinations are required to enter Poland. Mains water is fully drinkable and meets EU standards.
Pharmacies (apteka) are well distributed. Outside normal hours, designated 24-hour pharmacies (apteka całodobowa) cover the gap. Basic medicines are also sold at petrol stations and in Żabka stores.
Hospitals suitable for foreigners in the major cities:
- Warsaw: Centralny Szpital Kliniczny MSWiA (ul. Wołoska 137); the private Medicover Hospital (ul. Rzeczypospolitej 5).
- Kraków: Szpital Uniwersytecki w Krakowie (ul. Jakubowskiego 2); the private Scanmed network.
Travellers from EU member states should carry a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Third-country nationals are required to hold travel health insurance with minimum cover of EUR 30,000.
