Bringing things into Qatar

Leave at home

  • E-cigarettes and vapes
  • Alcohol
  • Pork products
Duty-free allowance
Alcohol may not be brought in at all, in any quantity

Qatar bans alcohol, pork and e-cigarettes at the border, and all three are taken off people who assumed duty-free counted as an exception.

  • Alcohol may not be brought into the country. Residents buy through a single licensed distributor; visitors drink in licensed hotels only, and what you carry is confiscated at Hamad airport.
  • Electronic cigarettes are prohibited. The import ban covers devices and liquids, and they are seized on arrival.
  • Pork products are prohibited for everyone except through the one licensed outlet.
  • Cash above the declarable threshold must be reported, and the same applies on exit.
  • Medicines containing narcotics or codeine need a prescription in the original packaging.
  • Material considered offensive to Islam is prohibited, and printed matter in luggage is what this is applied to.
