Recommendations by traveler type
- 1 person with a backpack - public transport or an airport bus is usually best.
- 2 people with two suitcases - the economics shift. In Bangkok it often makes sense to take the Airport Rail Link + a short Grab ride if the hotel is near BTS/MRT; if it is not, going straight for a Grab or an official taxi is usually rational.
- 3β4 people - an official taxi, app ride or minivan often wins, because the difference versus four individual tickets shrinks quickly.
- After midnight - the most reliable choice is an official taxi or Grab.
Phuket and Chiang Mai are simpler than this. The routes above are written around Bangkok and its backbone transit lines; elsewhere the path is usually just arrival hall β app ride or minibus β hotel.
