One number, 999, reaches all three services. Save the airport medical centre and your insurer alongside it.
The number
| Service | Number |
|---|---|
| Ambulance, fire and police | 999 |
| FCDO in London, 24 hours | 020 7008 5000 |
What to expect from it
- 999 is the single emergency number for all three services in Uganda.
- Medical help at the scene of an accident is likely to be limited, particularly outside Kampala. Getting to a hospital may matter more than waiting for one to come to you.
- Entebbe's Airport Medical Centre runs 24 hours and can be reached on +256 752 222 8855. Entebbe General Referral Hospital is five minutes away by road, and is the main hospital for the municipality.
Before you need any of it
- Call your insurer as soon as you are referred to a facility. Uganda is a country where a serious case can mean an air ambulance, and that call is what starts it.
- Save your embassy's number offline, and keep a photocopy or photograph of your passport page separate from the passport itself. Officials can ask for identification at any time.
