One of two Tunisian airports where Ooredoo hands over a pre-ordered tourist SIM, and an island where nearly every arrival is a package transfer.

Djerba Zarzis is run by OACA, the state airports authority, unlike Monastir and Enfidha.
It is one of only two airports where Ooredoo's Holiday SIM is collected - the other is Tunis.
Bring the physical passport to the shop; a copy emailed in advance is not enough.
Most arrivals here are package charters with a transfer already booked.
Dinars may not be carried in or out of Tunisia, so change money after you land and change back before you fly.
The hotel tax is 8 or 12 TND per person per night, collected at the property.

Djerba Zarzis is one of the seven international airports operated by OACA. That matters more than it sounds: Monastir and Enfidha, the other two charter airports, were conceded to a private operator, Monastir from 1 January 2008.
The island is connected to the mainland by a Roman causeway and by ferry, so a Djerba arrival is a genuinely separate trip from a Tunis one.

Ooredoo's Holiday SIM is pre-ordered online, and the collection point is chosen in advance from a list of two: Tunis airport or Djerba airport.
After the confirmation email you send back a passport copy, and at the shop you present the passport itself for identification and to sign the contract.
So the reservation saves the paperwork, not the queue.

Importing and exporting Tunisian dinars is prohibited. You arrive with none and you leave with none.
Change enough for the first day at the airport and the rest as you go, keeping the receipts, because reconverting on departure is done against them.
Declare foreign cash above the equivalent of 5,000 TND on arrival, or the excess is confiscated on the way out.

8 TND per person per night at 3-star hotels and 12 TND at 4 and 5-star, capped at ten nights, and not included in any booking rate.
It is collected at the property, in dinars.
