Jeddah (JED): the high speed railway station is in the terminal
The Haramain station is built into the Main Airport Terminal Building, so a pilgrim can land and board a 300 km/h train to Makkah or Madinah without going outside.

A railway station inside an airport terminal
- The Airport Jeddah station is an integrated structure within the Main Airport Terminal Building at King Abdulaziz International. Not a shuttle ride away, not across a road - inside.
- It is designed as a transport hub, connecting the terminal with the high speed rail network, buses, shuttles, taxis and car parking in one place.
- It opens daily from 06:30 to 00:30.
- It was built for Hajj and Ramadan volumes, which is why it is the size it is.
What the train does
- The Haramain High Speed Railway is an electrified line running at 300 km/h.
- It links Makkah and Madinah, calling at Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport and King Abdullah Economic City at Rabigh.
- Each train seats 417 passengers, 113 of them in business class, with a dining area in the fifth coach.
Why this changes an arrival
- For a pilgrim, the airport is the start of the journey rather than a place to leave. Land, clear immigration, walk to the station.
- For everyone else it is the fast way to Madinah without a domestic flight, and the fast way into Jeddah itself.
- Check the timetable against your landing time. The station closes at 00:30, and a lot of long-haul arrivals into Jeddah are in the small hours.
