Riyadh (RUH) and the Yellow Line
Line 4 of the Riyadh Metro runs from King Abdullah Financial District to King Khalid International Airport, which is the whole of its purpose.
- Line 4, the Yellow Line, serves King Khalid International Airport.
- Its other end is King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), the interchange for the network.
- It runs along King Khalid International Airport Road.
- The airport is roughly 35 km north of the city centre, so the alternative is a long taxi.
- The metro is the newest way in and it is not the only one: taxis and ride-hailing work normally.
The line that exists for this airport
- Riyadh Metro Line 4 is the Yellow Line, and it runs between King Abdullah Financial District and King Khalid International Airport, along King Khalid International Airport Road.
- KAFD is the network's main interchange, so the airport connects onward to the rest of the metro there rather than at a city-centre station.
What that means arriving
- King Khalid International is well north of the city, and the drive is long enough that a train is a genuine alternative rather than a novelty.
- Check which terminal the metro station serves against the terminal your airline uses. King Khalid has separate terminals and the walk between them is not short.
The alternatives
- Taxis and ride-hailing operate normally and are the default for most arrivals, particularly at night.
- Riyadh is a city built for the car. Nothing here is walkable from the airport and no part of that is unusual for the Gulf.
