Multan (MUX): four kilometres out, and one terminal you cannot get lost in
One of the shortest airport runs in Pakistan. A single terminal, English signage, and a distance short enough that an auto-rickshaw makes sense.
- The airport is about 4 km west of Multan, which is unusually close for a Pakistani international airport.
- A taxi from the city centre takes 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic, so the time is about the streets rather than the distance.
- Auto-rickshaws are a real option at this distance, and the cheapest thing that will take luggage.
- Uber and Careem no longer operate in Pakistan. Use Yango or InDrive; guides naming Careem or Uber for Multan are out of date.
- Agree any rickshaw or unmetered taxi fare before you get in, in rupees and in cash.
- Local buses and vans serve the districts nearest the airport and are the budget option if you know where you are going.
- One passenger terminal covers international and domestic, arrivals and departures. Everything is within walking distance inside.
- Signage is duplicated in English.
- Free wifi, currency exchange, cafés, duty free, a CIP lounge and medical services are all in the terminal.
- Arrive 2.5 to 3 hours before an international flight, 1.5 to 2 for a domestic one.
The short run
- 4 km west of the city is close enough that the airport is effectively in Multan rather than outside it.
- 20 to 30 minutes by taxi from the centre, which is traffic rather than geography.
- An auto-rickshaw is genuinely practical here. Over 4 km it is cheap, quick and takes a normal amount of luggage, which is not true of a 30 km airport run.
- Fix the price first. Rickshaws and most street taxis are unmetered, cash, rupees.
The apps
- Uber left Pakistan in 2022 and Careem stopped ride-hailing on 18 July 2025. Guides that recommend either for Multan have not been updated.
- Yango and InDrive are the working apps, with the fare shown before you confirm.
- Register before you fly, and book on the terminal wifi.
The terminal
- One passenger terminal handles everything, with separate zones for international and domestic and for arrivals and departures.
- Its compactness is the advantage. Nothing is far from anything else and it is hard to get lost.
- Signage is in English as well as Urdu.
- Cafés and restaurants, duty free, a CIP lounge, free wifi, currency exchange and medical services are all inside.
- Parking has short and long term zones on site.
What flies here
- Gulf and Middle East carriers do the international work: Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, Qatar Airways and Saudia among them, alongside Airblue on the domestic and regional routes.
- This is a labour-migration airport as much as a tourist one, which is why the Gulf routes are heavy and the peaks are around Eid and Hajj.
Timing
- 2.5 to 3 hours before an international departure, 1.5 to 2 for a domestic one.
- Peak season is Hajj and Eid, when the single terminal fills up and the queues outside security get long.
