Nadi (NAN) to Nadi town, Denarau and the Coral Coast
Rank taxis are metered from FJD 7.50. On the street, LT plates have a meter and LH plates do not. Buses take a card you buy at the Vodafone counter.
- The yellow taxis outside arrivals are metered, flag-fall FJD 7.50.
- On the street, LT plates are metered from FJD 2.50 and LH plates are not metered at all.
- Fiji buses take no cash. Buy a disposable e-ticket card at the Vodafone outlet in arrivals.
- The card is valid 30 days and the balance is refunded in cash at a Vodafone shop.
- Intercity buses stop outside departures, not arrivals.
- The Airport to Hotel Connections bus leaves twice a day, 07:30 and 13:00.
The two letters that decide the fare
- The four-seater yellow taxis lined up outside arrivals are metered, with a flag-fall of FJD 7.50.
- Away from the airport it depends on the plate. LT is metered, base rate FJD 2.50. LH is not metered and runs on fixed distance rates.
- With an LH taxi, agree the price first, and ask your hotel what the trip should cost before you do.
- Carry Fiji dollars. Taxis are cash, and there is no Uber or Lyft in Fiji.
The bus, and the shop that sells the ticket
- Fiji's buses run on an electronic ticketing card and drivers do not take cash.
- Buy a disposable card at the Vodafone outlet in the arrivals terminal, in FJD 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 or 100.
- It stays valid 30 days, and any balance left is refunded in cash at a Vodafone retail outlet against the card and your ID.
- Nadi to anywhere between here and Suva costs under FJD 25, and takes 1 to 4 hours.
- The intercity buses stop outside the departures terminal. Look for Pacific Transport, Sunbeam or Sunset.
The scheduled hotel bus
- The Airport to Hotel Connections bus leaves twice daily, at 07:30 and 13:00, along the Queen's Highway with stops at hotels.
- Book it at the Rosie Holidays or Tourist Transport Fiji desks outside international arrivals.
Inside the terminal
- SIM cards from Vodafone or Digicel in the arrivals hall, 05:00 to 22:00, against a physical passport.
- ATMs cap at FJD 2,000 a day, whatever your own bank allows, and resorts add about 3 per cent to card payments.
- Free Wi-Fi for 2 hours or 1 GB, whichever runs out first.
- Left luggage sits past biosecurity, 05:00 to 22:00, paid upfront for the whole stay.
The queue before all of that
- Every bag at Nadi is X-rayed and the passenger arrival card is a biosecurity declaration. An undeclared item carries a FJD 400 fine, and declaring costs nothing.
- A layover under 10 hours stays in the transit lounge. Over 10 hours and you clear immigration and customs properly.
