Kuwait is dry in the fullest sense: no alcohol enters the country, and pork is prohibited alongside it.
- Alcohol is prohibited outright. There is no allowance and no duty-free purchase that survives arrival; bottles are confiscated and the offence can mean more than a fine.
- Pork products may not be brought in, in any form.
- Medicines containing codeine, tramadol or narcotics need a prescription and the original packaging, and are worth declaring rather than hiding.
- Cash above the declarable threshold must be reported on arrival and departure.
- Material considered offensive to Islam is prohibited, and that is applied to printed matter and DVDs in luggage.
- Drug offences carry very heavy penalties, including capital ones for trafficking.
