Macao is a free port like Hong Kong, with the same tiny cigarette allowance and the same outright ban on vapes.
- The tobacco allowance is 19 cigarettes per adult, the same odd figure as Hong Kong, and it is enforced at the ferry terminals as well as the airport.
- Electronic cigarettes are prohibited. Importing, selling or carrying one through the border is an offence, and they are confiscated on the spot.
- Alcohol is 1 litre of spirits over 30 %, and everything under that carries no duty.
- Macao levies no general customs duty, which is the point of a free port - the prices in the casinos' shopping malls are not the result of a tax break, though.
- MOP 120,000 or more in cash must be declared when asked, and the crossings to Hong Kong and Zhuhai are all customs boundaries even though all three are China.
