This is the piece that makes Bogota's cheap airport route work, and it is missing from most advice.

TransMilenio
- A flat fare of about COP 2,950, regardless of how far you travel, paid with a TuLlave card.
- Buy the card at the station. There is no cash payment on board and no paper ticket.
- The system runs roughly 04:30 to 23:00.
- It is crowded, particularly at peak, and it is not designed for large suitcases. With a backpack it is excellent value; with two hold bags it is a struggle.
Taxis and apps
- Uber, DiDi and Cabify all operate in Bogota and are what most visitors use.
- Use the official taxi rank if you take a street taxi, and prefer an app where you can.
- Do not accept a ride offered to you inside the terminal.
Altitude
Worth knowing before you plan your first afternoon: Bogota sits at about 2,640 m. Arriving from sea level, expect to be short of breath on stairs and to feel the first day more than you expect. Take it gently, drink water, and do not treat the first evening as a full day.
