Cartagena (CTG): the published zone tariff, and how close the airport is
The airport publishes a taxi fare for each neighbourhood. The old town is 15 to 25 minutes away. Transcaribe costs 3,900 pesos but does not serve the airport.

- Zone 1, at 20,200 pesos, covers Getsemani, Crespo, Marbella, Cabrero, Torices, Narino, Canapote and San Francisco.
- La Boquilla, the Morros zone and the Muelle de la Bodeguita are 24,300 pesos.
- Manga, Pie de la Popa and Pie del Cerro are 28,500 pesos.
- Bocagrande, Castillogrande, Laguito and Cuatro Vientos are 34,400 pesos.
- The outer neighbourhoods, including Olaya and Santa Lucia, are 40,900 pesos.
- Those figures date from the 2022 tariff sheet, so expect them to have risen; the zone structure is what matters.
- Transcaribe, the city BRT, costs 3,900 pesos from 23 January 2026, but no route serves the airport terminal.
A published tariff, by neighbourhood
- Rafael Nunez publishes what a taxi from the airport should cost to each part of Cartagena, under a decree of the city mayoralty. Very few airports anywhere do this, and it removes the argument entirely.
- Zone 1, 20,200 pesos: Getsemani, Cabrero, Marbella, Torices, Narino, Crespo, Canapote, Daniel Lemaitre, Siete de Agosto, San Francisco.
- 24,300 pesos: La Boquilla and the Morros and Cielo Mar strip, and the Muelle de la Bodeguita.
- 28,500 pesos: Manga, Pie de la Popa, Pie del Cerro, El Espinal, Lo Amador.
- 34,400 pesos: Bocagrande, Castillogrande, Laguito, Cuatro Vientos, Cuartelillo de Olaya.
- 40,900 pesos: San Pedro, Santa Lucia, Santa Monica, La Concepcion, Los Alpes, San Jose Obrero, Olaya and the outer barrios.
- The published sheet dates from 2022, and Cartagena's taxi minimum has risen since, so treat these as the shape of the price rather than today's number. The zone structure and the ranking of the neighbourhoods is what to carry with you.
Where you are probably going
- The walled city and Getsemani are in the cheapest zone. The airport is genuinely close.
- Bocagrande, where most of the high rise hotels are, is the 34,400 zone.
- La Boquilla and the Morros strip north of the airport are cheaper than Bocagrande, which surprises people.
Public transport
- Transcaribe is Cartagena's bus rapid transit system, and its fare rose to 3,900 pesos on 23 January 2026 under decree 017.
- No Transcaribe route serves the airport terminal. Its lines pass through Crespo, the airport's neighbourhood, but the system does not name the airport as a stop and there is no station at the building.
- For practical purposes this airport is a taxi airport, which the published tariff makes a good deal less painful than it sounds.
