Dublin Airport (DUB) to the city
The coaches are quick and about EUR 9; the ordinary Dublin Bus routes cost EUR 2 with a Leap card and nobody at arrivals mentions them.
- There is no train to Dublin Airport. A rail link has been talked about for decades; every route into the city is a bus.
- Dublin Bus routes 16 and 41 cost EUR 2 with a Leap card, EUR 2.60 in cash, and run to O'Connell Street in the heart of the city.
- The coaches cost around EUR 9 to EUR 10 - Aircoach about EUR 9 every 15 minutes, Dublin Express about EUR 10 and as quick as 14 minutes.
- Leap card discounts do not apply on the coaches. Aircoach accepts the card as payment but charges its own fare; Dublin Express does not accept it at all.
- The ordinary bus is the value option and the coaches are the fast one. With time and one bag, take the 16.
No train, and no prospect of one soon
Dublin is a European capital whose airport has no rail connection. Everything below is a bus, and the difference between them is price against speed.
The cheap way almost nobody takes
- Dublin Bus routes 16 and 41 run from the airport into the city on ordinary urban fares.
- EUR 2.00 with a Leap card, EUR 2.60 in cash.
- The 16 drops you on O'Connell Street, which is as central as anything gets in Dublin.
- It is slower and it stops often, and it costs about a fifth of the coach.

- Leap card discounts do not carry over. Aircoach will take a Leap card as a payment method but charges its full fare - the EUR 2 fare cap and the 90-minute fare do not apply. Dublin Express does not accept Leap at all.
- Buy online for the coaches where you can; walk-up prices are higher.
Which to take
- Arriving late, tired, with luggage and a hotel across the river: take a coach.
- Travelling light, or on a budget, in daylight: the 16 does the same journey for EUR 2 and the difference over a return trip pays for a decent meal.
