Eindhoven Airport (EIN) to Eindhoven and Amsterdam
Bus 400 links the terminal to Eindhoven Centraal in about 25 minutes; Amsterdam is a further 80 minutes by train.
- Bus 400 runs from outside the terminal to Eindhoven Centraal in about 25 minutes - the only public transport link, and the one everyone uses.
- Hermes sells a single from EUR 5.00 and a return from EUR 10.00, valid on bus lines 20, 400 and 401 - so if the 400 has just gone, check the other two.
- Amsterdam is not next door. Eindhoven Centraal to Amsterdam Centraal is about 1 hour 20 minutes by NS train, twice an hour, on top of the bus.
- Total door to door to Amsterdam is close to two hours. If your itinerary assumed Schiphol, rebuild it.
- Eindhoven itself is a genuinely short hop - under half an hour from touchdown to the city centre, which is more than Stansted or Beauvais can say.
Where the airport actually is
Eindhoven is about 125 km southeast of Amsterdam, in North Brabant. Booking sites sometimes attach Amsterdam's name to it; the Netherlands' Amsterdam airport is Schiphol (AMS), which has its own railway station under the terminal.
Bus 400
The airport shuttle is bus 400, run by Hermes under the Bravo brand, from the stop outside arrivals to Eindhoven Centraal in about 25 minutes.
Hermes sells an airport ticket from EUR 5.00 one way and EUR 10.00 return, and it is valid on lines 20, 400 and 401 alike. That last detail is worth knowing on the pavement: if the 400 has just pulled away, one of the other two may be along sooner and your ticket already covers it.
Onward by train
Eindhoven Centraal is a main-line station. NS runs to Amsterdam Centraal about every 30 minutes, taking roughly 1 hour 20 minutes. Add the bus and the wait and Amsterdam is a two-hour journey from this terminal - a real consideration if you have a same-day connection or a hotel booked on the assumption that "Amsterdam Eindhoven" meant Amsterdam.
