Kilimanjaro (JRO) to Arusha and Moshi
The airport is 40 km from Arusha and 30 km from Moshi, and the airport's own shared shuttle to either costs 10,000 Tanzanian shillings.

Between two towns
- Kilimanjaro International lies 40 km east or south-east of Arusha and 30 km west or south-west of Moshi.
- It serves both and sits in neither, which is why the transfer is a real leg of the trip rather than an afterthought.

The shuttle
- The airport runs a shared shuttle for 10,000 Tanzanian shillings, sharing the bus with other travellers heading to Moshi or Arusha.
- At that price it is a fraction of a private transfer, and it is published by the airport rather than negotiated at the kerb.
- It suits a solo traveller with a rucksack. A group with duffel bags and a 05:00 departure for the gate will want the private car.
Who arrives here
- This is the airport for the northern safari circuit and for climbing Kilimanjaro. Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and the Machame and Marangu routes all start from Arusha or Moshi.
- Most people arrive with a transfer already booked by their operator, and that is the normal arrangement rather than an upsell.
Before you land
- Hold an e-visa. Tanzania pushes everyone towards visa.immigration.go.tz and the airline is the checkpoint that matters.
- A yellow fever certificate is required if you arrive from a listed transmission risk country, which includes Kenya.
