Reykjavik city airport (RKV): this is not Keflavik
RKV is the domestic airport inside Reykjavik, not the international one. The line 15 stop is thirty metres from the terminal and the centre is a thirty minute walk.
- This is Reykjavik's domestic airport, in the city at Vatnsmyri. International flights use Keflavik, 50 km away, which is a different airport with a different code.
- The bus stop is about 30 metres from the terminal, called Reykjavikurflugvollur.
- Bus number 15 is the route. It is an ordinary Straeto city service.
- Buses run every 15 to 30 minutes, from about 06:40 to 23:15 on weekdays.
- Weekends start later: about 07:45 on Saturdays and 09:45 on Sundays.
- The ride to the centre averages about 10 minutes.
- A single ticket is 570 ISK, paid in the Klappid app or with a contactless card on board.
- A 24 hour ticket is 2,300 ISK.
- Cash is no longer accepted on buses. Contactless card or the app.
- The city centre is about a 30 minute walk and the whole route is on pavement.
- Flybus runs between RKV and Keflavik Airport if you are connecting between the two.
- Sources give the distance as 2 km and as 3 km. Either way it is a walk, not a journey.
Which airport is this
- RKV is Reykjavik's domestic airport, in the city itself at Vatnsmyri, a short distance from the centre.
- Keflavik (KEF) is the international airport, about 50 km southwest. They are not the same place and a mistake between them is an expensive one.
- RKV handles flights to Akureyri, Egilsstadir, Isafjordur and the smaller Icelandic fields, plus Greenland and the Faroes.
The bus
- The stop, Reykjavikurflugvollur, is about 30 metres from the terminal. That is as close as an airport bus stop gets.
- Take Straeto bus 15.
- Frequency is every 15 to 30 minutes.

Connecting to Keflavik
- Flybus runs between Reykjavik Airport and Keflavik Airport. If you are arriving on a domestic flight and leaving internationally, that is the link, and it takes about 45 minutes plus city traffic.
- Neither source used here is the airport operator. Isavia does not publish a usable transport page for RKV, so this page rests on two independent publishers.
