Getting from Mactan-Cebu International Airport to the city

The bus, and the mall at the end of it

• MyBus runs between Mactan-Cebu International Terminal 2 and SM City Cebu, and the route, schedule and map are published by the airport itself rather than left to the operator.
• SM City Cebu is a shopping mall on the Cebu City side of the bridge, and it works as the interchange: jeepneys, taxis and other MyBus routes go on from there.
• So the journey into the city is two legs. The first is cheap and fixed; the second is however you normally get around Cebu.

The two terminals

• Terminal 2 is the international terminal and Terminal 1 is domestic. They are next to each other but they are separate buildings.
• Check which one your bus, or the person meeting you, is at. The MyBus route the airport publishes runs to Terminal 2.

The geography

• The airport is on Mactan Island, not on Cebu, joined by the Marcelo Fernan and Mandaue-Mactan bridges.
• The resorts of Mactan are minutes away. Cebu City itself is across the water and, in traffic, a great deal further than the distance suggests.
• Decide which side you are staying on before you agree a taxi fare, because the two are very different journeys.

Taxis

• The airport lists taxi, bus and the car parks as the options, and metered taxis queue outside arrivals.
• Insist on the meter, which is the standing advice everywhere in the Philippines and is not specific to Cebu.
