Getting around the city, and which apps to install

Prague tickets are time-based and transferable across metro, tram and bus: CZK 39 for 30 minutes, CZK 50 for 90, CZK 150 for a day and CZK 350 for three on paper - and a few koruna less on each in the PID Litacka app. A paper ticket must be validated in the yellow machine the moment you board or enter the paid area.

  • Prague tickets are time-based and transfer freely across metro, tram, bus and trolleybus: CZK 39 for 30 minutes, CZK 50 for 90, CZK 150 for a day and CZK 350 for three on paper - CZK 36, 46, 140 and 340 in the PID Litacka app.
  • A paper ticket must go in the yellow machine the moment you board or enter the metro's paid area. A digital ticket bought at an on-board terminal is valid at once.
  • Activate an app ticket before you board. Activation in PID Lítačka takes 2 minutes by design, as an anti-fare-evasion measure.
  • IDOS is the national timetable search, covering every train, bus and city transport service in the country.
  • Uber and Bolt both work in Prague, Brno, Ostrava and the regional cities.

Prague's public transport is among the most efficient in Europe: 3 metro lines (A green, B yellow, C red), a dense tram network and buses.
