Nha Trang Cam Ranh (CXR): bus 18, and whether your bag will fit

Bus 18, run by Dat Moi, costs 65,000 to 74,000 dong and runs every 30 minutes. It is air conditioned but has little luggage space.

  • The airport is about 35 km south of central Nha Trang, 45 to 60 minutes by road.
  • Bus route 18 is run by Dat Moi and is the airport bus.
  • The fare is reported between 65,000 and 74,000 dong.
  • It runs every 30 minutes, roughly 05:30 to 21:30.
  • Pick it up outside the arrivals hall, at column 3 at the international terminal, or on the opposite side of the arrival gate at the domestic terminal.
  • In the city it ends at 86 Tran Phu Street or at 10 Yersin Street near the stadium, depending on the working, and it stops along the way.
  • The bus is air conditioned but has very little space for luggage. With big bags, take a taxi.
  • A taxi is 350,000 to 400,000 dong, 45 to 60 minutes.
  • Grab is 250,000 to 350,000 dong.
  • For two or more people the taxi is close to the bus on price, once the fare is divided.

The bus

  • Route 18, operated by Dat Moi, is the airport bus.
  • The fare is reported between 65,000 and 74,000 dong depending on the source, so carry 80,000.
  • It runs about every 30 minutes, roughly 05:30 to 21:30.
  • At the international terminal, find it outside arrivals at column 3. At the domestic terminal it is on the opposite side of the arrival gate.
  • In the city it runs along Tran Phu, the beachfront road, ending at either 86 Tran Phu Street or 10 Yersin Street near the stadium depending on the working, and it will stop along the way for hotels.
  • It is air conditioned and comfortable, and it has almost no luggage space. That is the honest catch. A cabin bag is fine; a large suitcase is a problem.

The taxi

  • 350,000 to 400,000 dong, taking 45 to 60 minutes over the 35 km.
  • Grab is 250,000 to 350,000 dong for the same trip.
  • Mai Linh, Vinasun and Quoc Te are the established taxi firms and wait outside both arrival halls.
  • Divided between two or more people, a taxi costs about the same as the bus and takes your luggage without argument. For a group it is the obvious choice.

The drive itself

  • The road runs along the coast and is one of the better airport transfers anywhere for scenery.
  • Cam Ranh town is much closer to the airport than Nha Trang is. If you are staying at Bai Dai, on the beach strip between the two, the journey is shorter and cheaper than any figure on this page.
