Ottawa (YOW): O-Train Line 4 to the door, and route 97 all night
The O-Train South Keys to Airport branch stops at the terminal. Bus 97 and bus 105 use the same stop, and 105 starts before half past three.
- There is a rail stop at the terminal. OC Transpo's own data lists Airport O-Train North right by the building, and an Airport stop 0.11 km from the doors.
- O-Train Line 4 runs South Keys to Airport, first departure 06:11, last 00:20. South Keys is on the main north-south Line 2.
- Route 105 is the workhorse bus: Airport to Hurdman and St-Laurent, around 7000 scheduled calls in the timetable, running from 03:19.
- Route 97 also serves the airport stop, roughly 4400 scheduled calls, with departures logged from 03:10.
- Route 197 links the airport with Uplands and Greenboro, first 05:42.
- Hurdman and St-Laurent are interchanges with Line 1, the east-west light rail through downtown.
- A cluster of stops sits within half a kilometre: Airport Parkway at Air Canada Cargo, Research at Paul Benoit, Paul Benoit at Silver Star.
- Downtown Ottawa is about 15 km north, so with a rail connection the trip is straightforward rather than fast.
The rail link
- Line 4 of the O-Train ends at the airport. OC Transpo's network data has an Airport O-Train North stop 0.15 km from the terminal and a station record right beside it.
- The branch runs from South Keys, with a first departure logged at 06:11 and a last at 00:20.
- South Keys is a Line 2 station, so the airport is two seats from the Line 1 east-west spine through the centre.
The buses, which matter more than you would think
- Route 105, Airport to Hurdman and St-Laurent, is the heaviest service at the terminal: nearly 7000 scheduled calls in the published timetable, with departures from 03:19.
- Route 97 uses the same stop, about 4400 scheduled calls, first logged at 03:10.
- Route 197 runs to Uplands and Greenboro, first 05:42, last 21:18. It is the local rather than the airport service.
- Between them, the airport stop is served through the small hours, which is unusual for a Canadian city of this size.
Where the stops are
- AIRPORT / AEROPORT sits 0.11 km from the terminal, effectively at the door.
- Within 600 metres there are stops on Airport Parkway at Air Canada Cargo and at Airbus Private, on Research at Paul Benoit and at Sonic, and on Paul Benoit at Silver Star.
- Those are business-park stops, useful if you are working on the airport lands, not if you are arriving with bags.
Practical shape of the trip
- The airport is roughly 15 km south of downtown.
- Hurdman and St-Laurent are the names to watch for on the bus, because that is where you change to Line 1.
- Fares are the standard OC Transpo fare, not an airport premium, which is not true of every Canadian airport link.
