Getting from Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker International Airport to the city

The single route

• Saskatoon Transit's route 11 is the airport bus. Reading the city's own published timetable data, no other route comes within a kilometre and a half of the terminal.
• The airport stop is Airport Station, about 670 metres from the runway reference point and on the terminal approach.
• The headsigns are Airport and City Centre. There is no ambiguity to resolve.
• First departure 06:02. Around 350 scheduled calls, so expect a service measured in tens of minutes rather than a few.

The nearby stops

• Wayne Hicks at Airport Drive, about 920 metres out.
• Airport Drive at 45th Street and 45th Street at Airport Drive, both about 1.2 km. These serve the industrial area north of the runway.

Practicalities

• Downtown is about 6 km away. Route 11 runs there directly.
• The first bank of morning departures leaves before the bus starts. Saskatoon has early flights to Calgary, Toronto and Vancouver, and 06:02 does not cover them.
• Taxis and ride-hail work at the terminal, and given the short distance the fare is manageable.

The airport itself

• It is named for John G. Diefenbaker, the Canadian prime minister who represented a Saskatchewan seat.
• It is Saskatchewan's busiest airport, ahead of Regina, and the main gateway for the northern half of the province.
