Tartu (TAY): only one taxi firm may wait at the rank

Since 26 May 2025 only Forus Taxi, the airport group partner, may park at the stand in front of the terminal. Everyone else can drop off but not wait.

  • Since 26 May 2025 only Forus Taxi may park and wait at the taxi stand in front of the Tartu Airport passenger terminal.
  • Forus is the official taxi partner of the Tallinn Airport Group, which owns Tartu Airport.
  • Other taxis may still drop you off and make short stops in the public car park area. They just cannot queue at the rank.
  • In practice that means the car waiting for you is a Forus car, unless you booked something else and it meets you in the car park.
  • Taxis drop off and pick up right in front of the terminal.
  • The airport is at Lennu 44, in Reola near Tartu.
  • Parking has been chargeable since 1 March 2025: 3 euro an hour, 7 euro for 24 hours.
  • The car park is unattended, with 60 spaces right in front of the terminal.
  • Pay in Pargi.ee, Parkner or Mobilly, on Parkimine.ee, or by SMS.
  • By SMS: text your registration and the zone code TAY1 to 1902, for example "123ABC TAY1". Call 1903 to end the session.
  • The airport's own page lists no bus. It covers taxi, car and parking only.

The taxi rule

  • This is the thing that has changed and that guides will not have. As of 26 May 2025, only Forus Taxi, the official taxi partner of the Tallinn Airport Group, is permitted to park and wait for passengers at the designated taxi stand in front of the Tartu Airport terminal.
  • Every other taxi may drop off and make short stops in the public car park area. They cannot sit at the rank.
  • So the car at the rank will be a Forus car. If you have booked another operator, expect to meet it in the car park rather than at the door.
  • The airport frames the change as making the transport experience more reliable and better organised, which is a fair description of what an exclusive rank does.

Getting there by car

  • The airport is at Lennu 44, in Reola, just outside Tartu.
  • The car park is unattended and has 60 spaces right in front of the terminal building.

Parking is no longer free

  • Chargeable since 1 March 2025.
  • Pay through the Pargi.ee, Parkner or Mobilly apps, or on the Parkimine.ee website without installing anything.
  • Or by SMS with an Estonian mobile service: send the registration number and the zone code TAY1 to 1902, e.g. "123ABC TAY1". Call 1903 to end parking.

No bus on the airport's own page

  • The airport lists taxi, car and parking, and nothing else. If you are counting on a city bus, confirm it with Tartu's own transport information rather than assuming it from this page.
