Which option suits which traveller
- Solo traveller: In Auckland, the SkyDrive express bus (NZD 20); in Christchurch, city bus route 3 or 29 (NZD 4).
- Family / group of 3 or more: An Uber or official taxi works out comparable to buying individual bus tickets, and takes you straight to your door.
- Night arrival (after 23:00): Uber or a pre-booked airport taxi - city bus routes do not run regular night services.
- Budget: In Auckland, bus 380 to Puhinui station and onward by train to the centre; in Christchurch, a standard Metro bus route.
