Getting from Adelaide Airport to the city

One stop, six routes

• Adelaide Airport has a single bus stop, "Stop 10 Adelaide Airport", and it is served by six routes in Adelaide Metro's J family plus two others.
• That is unusually good for a mid-size airport: you do not have to find the right route, only the right stop.
• All the J routes run through the city centre, so for central Adelaide it hardly matters which one comes first.

The routes, and their hours from the airport

• J1 - Elizabeth Interchange to Adelaide Airport and Glenelg. Departures from the airport 05:30 to 22:52. This is the busiest of them by a wide margin.
• J1A - Elizabeth Interchange to Adelaide Airport. 04:56 to 23:42. The first bus of the day and the last bus of the day are both this route, which makes it the one to check for an early flight or a late landing.
• J2 - Greenwith to Adelaide Airport and Harbour Town. 06:29 to 23:30.
• J1T - Harbour Town to Tea Tree Plaza Interchange. 05:00 to 23:20.
• J1G - Glenelg to Golden Grove Interchange. 06:30 to 22:59.
• J2G - Greenwith to Glenelg. 08:10 to 22:22.
• J7 and J8 - West Lakes Centre Interchange to Marion Centre Interchange, calling only a handful of times.

Where they take you

• The city: all the J routes pass through central Adelaide, which is about 7 km from the airport.
• Glenelg: J1, J1G and J2G run to the seaside suburb directly. Glenelg is also the end of the tram from the city, so you can go either way.
• Elizabeth, Golden Grove, Tea Tree Plaza and Greenwith: the northern suburbs, on the O-Bahn corridor.
• Harbour Town: the outlet centre just north of the airport.

Practical

• There is no railway station at the airport. The bus is the public transport option.
• Adelaide Metro's fares are flat - the same on bus, train and tram, and the same whatever the distance - so an airport ride costs no more than any other.
• Pay with a metroCARD, a contactless card or phone, or the Adelaide Metro app.
• These times come from the operator's own published timetable data (feed version 1695, valid 28 August to 11 October 2026) and change with each service revision, so check before an early start.

The airport

• Adelaide Airport is 7 km west of the city centre, which is close enough that the bus ride is short and the taxi is affordable.
• It has one terminal handling both domestic and international flights, which is rare in Australia and makes connections simple.
• The Barossa Valley is an hour north-east and McLaren Vale 45 minutes south - both usually reached by car from here rather than by bus.
