Bajio (BJX): Uber cannot collect you here

The Uber problem

- None of these is a five minute hop. BJX is a regional airport serving several cities, and the transfer is a real leg of the journey.
Buses, honestly
- There is no direct bus to Guanajuato city. The route requires changing at Silao.
- San Miguel means going through the central terminal and takes about two hours in total.
- Primera Plus runs the intercity coaches from León, which is the network you would join.
Private transfers
- Pre-booked cars start around USD 54 to Guanajuato and USD 79 to San Miguel de Allende.
- For two or more people heading to San Miguel that is the practical answer, and it removes the negotiation at a kerb where Uber cannot help you.
Taxis
- Taxis outside the terminal can be haggled with, which is another way of saying there is no fixed rate.
- A taxi to Guanajuato centre is quoted around 480 to 500 pesos by one traveller account, which puts San Miguel at several times that.
