Merida (MID): prepay the taxi at the booth, and check where Uber can collect
The taxi fare into the historic centre is regulated and prepayable inside the terminal. The bus is cheap but the two guides differ on how cheap, and they also differ on whether Uber may pick up on airport land.
- The airport is 7 to 8 km from Centro Histórico, a 15 to 30 minute trip.
- The official taxi fare into the historic centre is regulated at about 250 to 350 pesos. You can prepay at a booth inside the terminal, which removes the negotiation entirely.
- A bus runs to the downtown bus terminal. One guide prices it at 20 to 30 pesos, another at 60 to 80. Either way it is a fraction of the taxi.
- From the CAME terminal it is a short taxi, about 50 to 80 pesos, or a 15 minute walk to most centro hotels.

The prepaid booth
- Mérida's airport taxi fare is regulated, at roughly 250 to 350 pesos into the historic centre.
- Prepay at the booth inside the terminal. That is the whole trick: you pay a fixed, published price indoors, get a ticket, and hand it to a driver.
- This is the least stressful arrival in the Yucatán and the reason the airport has the reputation it does.
The bus, and a fare that does not agree with itself

- One guide prices it at 20 to 30 pesos, another at 60 to 80. That is a fourfold difference between two 2026 sources. Carry 100 pesos and you are covered either way.
- Roughly every 30 to 60 minutes.
- CAME is not quite the centre. From there it is a short taxi at 50 to 80 pesos, or a 15 minute walk to most centro hotels.
Uber, and a genuine contradiction
- One guide says ride-hailing apps are active and readily available for pickups at the airport, with a designated pickup zone.
- The other says Uber only works after a short walk off airport property.
- Both are 2026 sources. Mexican airports change this rule frequently and it is often contested locally, so open the app on arrival and see where it wants to collect you rather than planning on either answer.
- Fares are around 180 to 250 pesos, which is 20 to 30 percent below the regulated taxi.
The cheapest option, which is not a good one
- Colectivo route 79, Aviación, stops on the highway outside the airport and costs under 10 pesos.
- It means crossing a busy road with your bags, then a slow route with many stops. It exists; it is not what you want after a flight.
The airport
- Compact and easy to navigate, with a reputation for being safe, clean and well organised. Security and baggage claim are both fast.
- 7 to 8 km from Centro Histórico, so even the taxi is a short ride.
- Aeroméxico, Viva Aerobus and Volaris domestically, with United, American, Delta, Air Canada and others internationally.
