Bucharest Baneasa Airport (BBU) to the city
Baneasa sits inside Bucharest on the Soseaua Bucuresti-Ploiesti, served by ordinary STB city buses including line 131.
- Baneasa is inside Bucharest, not out in the countryside like Otopeni.
- Bus 131 is the useful line: Piata Romana, Piata Victoriei, Soseaua Kiseleff, Piata Presei Libere, Soseaua Bucuresti-Ploiesti, Baneasa Airport.
- Piata Victoriei and Piata Romana are metro stations, so the bus connects straight into the underground.
- Lines 335, 148, 112 and 301 also serve the airport.
- These are ordinary STB city buses, priced as such, with no airport surcharge.
- Pay with an STB card, a contactless bank card or by text message.
An airport on a city bus route
- Baneasa is Bucharest's older, closer airport, on the Soseaua Bucuresti-Ploiesti heading north out of the city.
- No express service is needed because the ordinary network already runs past it.
- Line 131 is the one to know, running down Soseaua Kiseleff through Piata Victoriei to Piata Romana.
The metro connection
- Piata Victoriei is an interchange between metro lines M1, M2 and M3.
- Piata Romana is on M2.
- That makes 131 plus the metro a complete journey to almost anywhere in Bucharest.
Paying
- STB card, contactless bank card, or SMS. Three ways, none of which requires finding a kiosk.
- Ordinary city fares apply, with no airport premium.
Which Bucharest airport
- Henri Coanda at Otopeni is the main one and handles almost all scheduled traffic.
- Baneasa handles business aviation and a limited passenger operation. Check which one your flight actually uses, since the two are 10 km apart on the same road.
