Satu Mare Airport (SUJ) to the town
The Transurban city network does not list an airport line, so a taxi or a lift is the practical way in.
- The airport is 14 km south of Satu Mare, out along the road towards Satmarel.
- Transurban runs the city network on 16 urban and 2 suburban lines, but no airport line appears on its published route list.
- Plan a taxi or a pre booked transfer. Do not arrive expecting a bus.
- The TUSM app shows live bus times if you want to check the network yourself.
- Satu Mare is close to both the Hungarian and Ukrainian borders, at Petea and Halmeu.
- The town is reachable by road from Cluj-Napoca, Oradea and Baia Mare.
No airport bus
- Transurban S.A. is the city operator, running 46 buses on 16 urban and 2 suburban lines across a 355 km network.
- That network serves Satu Mare, Doba, Vetis and the Satmarel district but does not list an airport route.
- Fourteen kilometres is too far to walk, so the practical options are a taxi or a booked transfer.
Checking for yourself
- The TUSM app shows real time bus positions and stop times, which is the quickest way to confirm the current network before you fly.
- The county council, not the city, runs interurban routes, so a county service may pass nearer the airport than the city network does.
Where you are
- North west Romania, near two borders: Petea for Hungary and Halmeu for Ukraine.
- Baia Mare, Oradea and Cluj-Napoca are the road connections onward.
