Cluj Airport (CLJ) to the city
An ordinary urban ticket is 3 lei, but the A1E express charges 6 lei paid by card on board, so the slow bus is half the price.
- An ordinary urban ticket is 3 lei. The A1E express charges 6 lei, paid by card on the bus's POS terminal.
- Lines 5 and 8 are ordinary urban routes at the ordinary fare, and they take about the same 26 minutes as the express.
- Tariffs were last changed on 1 August 2025.
- Three lines serve the airport: A1E, 5 and 8, and all take about 26 minutes to the central area.
- You can buy a ticket by SMS. Text the line number to 7479 for one trip on that line, valid 45 minutes.
- Text the letter T to 7479 instead and you get 60 minutes on every line in Cluj-Napoca.
- Tickets also come from machines at the stops, CTP kiosks, the POS on board and the 24Pay app.
- Driving from the city centre takes about 30 minutes, longer than the bus.
What the bus costs
| Ticket | Price |
|---|---|
| Urban single, lines 5 and 8 | 3 lei |
| A1E express, paid by card on board | 6 lei |
| SMS ticket, one line, 45 minutes | text the line number to 7479 |
| SMS ticket, all lines, 60 minutes | text T to 7479 |
- The express costs double and saves nothing. All three lines take about 26 minutes to the centre, so unless the A1E happens to be the next departure, lines 5 and 8 are the better buy.
- Tariffs were last revised on 1 August 2025.
- The SMS ticket is the visitor's shortcut: text the line number for 45 minutes on that line, or the letter T for an hour across the whole city.
- Machines at the stops, CTP kiosks, the POS on board and the 24Pay app are the other ways to pay.
