Where this is
- The airport is at Paltaniemi, northwest of Kajaani on the shore of Oulujarvi.
- Kajaani is the centre of the Kainuu region, and the airport is the way in to Vuokatti, the ski and sports resort that draws most of the winter traffic.
- Kajaani station is on the main line north to Oulu and south towards Helsinki.
