Tampere (TMP): the airport bus 103 is gone as of 4 August 2026
Nysse withdrew route 103, the direct airport bus to the centre of Tampere. Almost every guide still recommends it. Line 34 still calls at the airport but runs between suburbs, not into town.
- Airport bus 103 stopped running on 4 August 2026. Nysse says so on its own airport page.
- Guides published before then still tell you to take it. They are describing a service that no longer exists.
- Line 34 still serves the airport. Nysse describes it as a connection for local workplaces and schools, not an airport service.
- Line 34 runs Lielahti to Tesoma to Pirkkala, via Kalkku, Pitkaniemi, Turri and Tredu Pirkkala, and its street list includes Lentoasemantie, the airport road.
- It does not go to the centre of Tampere. Lielahti and Tesoma are western suburbs. You would change there.
- The airport is in fare zone C, while the town of Pirkkala next door is in zone B.
- That means an ABC ticket to reach central Tampere, not the cheaper AB or BC.
- Nysse publishes adult single fares of 2.80 euro for two zones and 4.70 euro for all three by contactless card or mobile ticket, with a travel card slightly cheaper.
- Contactless card payment covers one passenger at a time. For a group, buy in the Nysse Mobiili app.
- Finavia has a live departure display at the airport. Check it rather than a printed timetable.
- For most arrivals now this is a taxi airport. Budget accordingly.
What changed
- Nysse withdrew route 103, the Tampere airport bus, on 4 August 2026. This is on Nysse's own airport page, which now carries the heading "Bus service no longer available".
- Route 103 ran from the terminal through the centre of Tampere to the railway station and the coach station. That direct link is what has gone.
- Almost every English language guide to this airport still describes it. If a page tells you bus 103 leaves 45 minutes after your flight lands, it was written before August 2026.
What is left
- Line 34 still calls at the airport. Nysse's own wording is that it "will continue to serve the area, providing connections to local workplaces and educational institutions" rather than describing it as an airport service.
- Its route is Lielahti to Tesoma to Pirkkala, running through Kalkku, Pitkaniemi, Turri, Kyosti, Solja, Pirkkala, Huovi, Vaitti and Tredu Pirkkala. The street list includes Lentoasemantie.
- Lielahti and Tesoma are western districts of Tampere, not the centre. Getting downtown means riding 34 and then changing.
- Some Sunday journeys skip the airport entirely. Nysse notes that certain evening services from March 2026 do not run via Pirkkala Tredu or the airport.
Zones and fares
- The airport is in zone C. Nysse lists Tampere-Pirkkala Airport under zone C, alongside Sorkkala, Sionkyla and Pirkkalankyla, while the town of Pirkkala itself is zone B.
- Central Tampere is zone A. A journey from the airport to the centre therefore crosses all three zones and needs an ABC ticket.

- A single ticket is valid for 90 minutes and covers transfers within that time, which matters now that a transfer is required.
- A night fare is added between 00:00 and 04:40.
- Contactless payment buys one passenger's trip at a time. Buy in the Nysse Mobiili app if there are several of you.
Practical answer
- Check the live departure display at the airport, which Finavia provides, rather than any timetable you found in advance.
- If line 34 does not fit your arrival, this is now a taxi airport. That is a real change in the cost of arriving at Tampere and it is worth budgeting for before you book.
