Getting from Copenhagen Airport to the city

The fare

Copenhagen is the counter-example to most of this section. There is no airport surcharge, no special airport ticket and no card you have to buy first.

• A 3-zone adult single is 30 DKK, under the DOT tariff in force since 18 January 2026.
• The airport is in zone 4 and the city centre in zone 1 - which ought to be four zones. A ring-zone rule caps the journey at three, so the airport is charged as though it were closer than it is.
• One DOT ticket covers metro, train and bus. Changing mode does not cost anything extra; the price depends only on how many zones you cross.

The metro

• M2 from the station under Terminal 3.
• Norreport in about 15 minutes, calling at Christianshavn and Kongens Nytorv on the way - between them that covers most of where visitors stay.
• Every 4 to 6 minutes during the day, and the metro runs 24 hours, which removes the late-arrival problem entirely.

The train

• Mainline trains also serve the airport station, running to Copenhagen Central and on across the Oresund bridge to Malmo in Sweden.
• Same ticket system. If Malmo is your destination, you do not need to go into Copenhagen at all - and remember that Sweden runs identity checks on that crossing.

One thing to know about paying

• Denmark's ticketing changed during 2026 - the old blue Rejsekort and its check-in posts were retired in stages. Use the DOT Tickets or Rejsebillet app, or a machine. See the Denmark guide for the detail; following older advice here means walking up to a post that is no longer there.
