Kiruna (KRN): tell the coach driver if your bags are late
The airport coach is timed to the flights, but Swedavia asks you to warn the driver about delays such as lost luggage handling so you are not left behind, particularly on late arrivals.
- The airport coach runs between the airport and central Kiruna, via Hjalmar Lundbomsvagen and Malmvagen.
- Its timetable is adjusted to arrivals and departures at Kiruna Airport.
- If you are delayed inside the terminal, tell the driver. Swedavia asks passengers to give notice of delays such as lost luggage handling so they do not miss the transfer, especially on late arrivals.
- Buy your ticket on board. Cash or most credit and debit cards.
- There is no ATM at Kiruna Airport. Do not plan on withdrawing cash here.
- The coach is run by Kiruna's public transport and operated by Falcks Omnibus, on +46 97 024800.
- Norrbottens lanstrafik bus 91 also serves the airport.
- The airport is about nine kilometres from central Kiruna.
- Taxis can be pre-booked to arrive with your flight. Flygtaxi is on +46 8 120 920 00, Taxi Kiruna on +46 980 120 20.
- Swedish taxi prices are deregulated. Read the yellow comparative price and pick your car.
- This is the airport for Abisko, the Icehotel and the Kungsleden, so a lot of arrivals are heading straight out of town.
The airport coach
- It runs between the airport and central Kiruna, calling at Hjalmar Lundbomsvagen and Malmvagen.
- The timetable is adjusted to the airport's arrivals and departures, so it is designed to meet the flights.
- It is run by Kiruna's public transport and operated by Falcks Omnibus, on +46 97 024800 or info@falcksomnibus.se.
If you are running late inside the terminal
- Swedavia asks you to tell the driver. Its wording covers delays such as private lost luggage service handling, and it singles out late arrivals.
- This is a practical courtesy that also protects you. At 68 degrees north in January, missing the only coach is a problem worth a thirty second conversation.
Paying
- Buy the ticket on board, with cash or most credit and debit cards.
- There is no cash machine at Kiruna Airport. If you were counting on withdrawing kronor on arrival, do it elsewhere.
The other bus
- Norrbottens lanstrafik route 91 also serves the airport, as part of the county network rather than as an airport service.
Taxi
- The airport is about nine kilometres from central Kiruna.
- Taxis can be pre-booked to meet your flight. Flygtaxi: +46 8 120 920 00. Taxi Kiruna: +46 980 120 20.
- Sweden's taxi market is deregulated, so fares are set by each company. Comparative prices for a standard 10 km, 15 minute journey are displayed in black on yellow, and you may choose any car in the rank.
Where people are actually going
- Kiruna is the gateway to Abisko, the Icehotel at Jukkasjarvi and the northern end of the Kungsleden.
- The town itself is being physically moved because of subsidence from the iron ore mine, so directions written a few years ago may point at buildings that are no longer where they were.
