Are Ostersund (OSD): line 4 will not wait for your flight

Line 4 runs to central Ostersund in about thirty minutes on a fixed schedule. Swedavia states that it runs to the timetable and not to flight arrivals or departures.

  • Line 4 runs between the airport and Ostersund city centre.
  • The journey takes about 30 minutes.
  • It operates to its own schedule, not to flight departures or arrivals. Swedavia says this explicitly.
  • Unforeseen changes in air traffic can affect the bus times too, so check on the day rather than relying on a printed plan.
  • The stop is marked directly outside the terminal entrance.
  • Buy in the Lanstrafiken Jamtland app or with a credit card on the bus.
  • For Are, book a transfer in advance through Flygtaxi. It runs during the ski season.
  • For Vemdalen, same arrangement, pre-booked with Flygtaxi during the ski season.
  • For anywhere else in the region, take the bus to Gustav III's Square in central Ostersund and pick up regional connections there.
  • Swedish taxi prices are deregulated. Read the yellow comparative price sticker and pick whichever car you like, not the first in line.

Line 4

  • It runs between Are Ostersund Airport and the centre of Ostersund, taking about 30 minutes.
  • It runs to a schedule, not to your flight. Swedavia's own wording is that line 4 "operates according to the schedule and not according to flight departures and/or arrivals".
  • The corollary is also stated: in the event of unforeseen changes in air traffic, bus times may be affected as well.
  • The stop is marked directly outside the terminal entrance.
  • Tickets: the Lanstrafiken Jamtland app, or a credit card on board.

The ski transfers

  • This airport exists largely for the ski resorts, and both of the main ones are served by pre-booked transfers rather than by scheduled buses.
  • Are: pre-book a transfer through Flygtaxi during the ski season.
  • Vemdalen: the same.
  • Pre-booking is the operative word. These are not services you can turn up and join.

Onward in the region

  • Take the bus to Gustav III's Square in central Ostersund. That is where the regional bus connections leave from.
  • Lanstrafiken Jamtland publishes the timetables and the ticket rules.

Taxi

  • Taxis wait right outside the terminal.
  • Sweden's taxi market is deregulated, so each company sets its own prices and you may pick any car in the rank.
  • Comparative prices, calculated for a standard 10 km, 15 minute journey, must be displayed in large black digits on a yellow background.
  • If you agree a fixed price it must be entered and visible in the meter before you set off, and the meter must run for the whole journey.
