Bandung Husein Sastranegara (BDO): reopening through August 2026
Scheduled flights are returning to Husein Sastranegara during August 2026 after moving to Kertajati. Check which Bandung airport your ticket names.
- This airport lost its scheduled traffic to Kertajati, out in Majalengka, and is being brought back into use.
- The transport ministry moved the reopening forward to August 2026, a month earlier than planned.
- Licensing has been prepared for 20 to 24 domestic routes, with regional international flights under discussion.
- Check which Bandung airport your ticket names. Kertajati is about 70 km east; Husein is in the city.
- Because the schedule is being rebuilt month by month, treat any route list as provisional.
- DAMRI runs airport to Padalarang for 45,000 rupiah, by way of the Pasteur toll road to Kota Baru Parahyangan.
- DAMRI runs airport to Subang for 70,000 rupiah, by way of Setiabudi and Lembang.
- DAMRI departures are timed to flight arrivals and departures, not to a fixed clock.
- Routes to Sumedang by way of Jatinangor and to Ciamis by way of Tasikmalaya are planned.
- Angkot, Trans Metro Bandung, conventional taxis and app cars all serve the airport, because it is inside the city.
The airport is coming back
- Husein Sastranegara sits inside Bandung, which is both its advantage and the reason its runway is short.
- Scheduled traffic was moved to Kertajati in Majalengka, about 70 km east, and Husein went quiet.
- The transport ministry has brought its reopening forward to August 2026, a month ahead of the original plan.
- Licensing has been prepared for 20 to 24 domestic routes, with regional international services under discussion, and InJourney Airports running the operation.
- This is a moving situation. Route lists published this month may be out of date next month, and the honest advice is to check the airline rather than a guide.
Which Bandung airport
- Kertajati, code KJT, is about 70 km east of Bandung and is reached by toll road.
- Husein Sastranegara, code BDO, is in the city.
- They are entirely different journeys. Read the airport code on your booking before arranging a transfer, because arriving at the wrong one costs about two hours.
The DAMRI routes
- Airport to Padalarang: 45,000 rupiah, by way of the Pasteur toll road to Kota Baru Parahyangan.
- Airport to Subang: 70,000 rupiah, by way of Setiabudi and Lembang. That is the road to the tea plantations and Tangkuban Perahu.
- Departures are matched to flight arrivals and departures rather than run to a fixed timetable, and will change as the flight schedule fills out.
- Two more routes are planned: to Sumedang by way of east Bandung and Jatinangor, and to Ciamis by way of Cileunyi and Tasikmalaya.
Around the city
- Because the airport is inside Bandung, ordinary city transport works: angkot minibuses, Trans Metro Bandung buses, conventional taxis and app based cars.
- Bandung's traffic is heavy, and a short distance can take a long time on a weekend, when Jakarta empties into the city.
