Kefalonia Airport (EFL) to Argostoli
A bus runs between the airport and Argostoli from a stop on the left of the departures building entrance.
- The bus stop is at the left side of the main entrance of the departures building.
- That is the departures side, not the arrivals kerb you walk out onto.
- The service runs between the airport and Argostoli, the island capital.
- KTEL Kefalonias runs the local routes and publishes them on its own site.
- The airport does not publish a fare.
- Kefalonia is a large, mountainous island with a thin bus network, and most visitors hire a car.
Finding the bus
- Left of the main departures entrance. Walk past the arrivals doors and keep going.
- It runs to Argostoli, the capital, about 9 km away on the west side of the bay.
The wider island
- KTEL Kefalonias operates the local routes from Argostoli to Sami, Fiskardo, Skala and the rest.
- Frequencies are rural. A few departures a day on most routes, and fewer out of season.
- Sami is the port for Ithaca and the mainland ferries.
The practical advice
- Most visitors hire a car, and on this island that is a reasonable decision rather than a lazy one: the distances are long and the bus network is sparse.
- If you are relying on buses, check the KTEL timetable for your dates before booking accommodation in a remote village.
