Mykonos Airport (JMK) to Chora and the beaches
The bus into Chora costs about 1.80 EUR in cash, on an island where a taxi is genuinely hard to find.
- A one way ticket is about 1.80 EUR, bought from the driver in cash, preferably in small notes.
- Island fares run about 1.80 to 2.80 EUR depending on distance, so nowhere on Mykonos is expensive to reach by bus.
- Buses run to Fabrika station, at the south end of Chora, and less often to the New Port.
- In high season they run every 30 to 60 minutes from about 08:15 to 22:15, reaching Fabrika in 15 to 20 minutes.
- The bus stop is in front of the terminal building, in the Arrivals area.
- Mykonos Bus runs the island network and sells tickets online as well.
- The taxi rank is outside the Arrivals terminal, and Mykonos has famously few taxis.
- In high season, plan the transfer rather than improvising it. This is not an island where a taxi appears on demand.
What the bus costs
| Journey | Price |
|---|---|
| Airport to Chora, one way | about 1.80 EUR |
| Island routes generally | 1.80 to 2.80 EUR |
- Cash to the driver, small notes preferred. There is no card payment on board.
- The airport does not publish a fare, and quoted figures vary between about 1.80 and 3.00 EUR depending on the source, so carry a few euros rather than exact change.
- Fabrika, at the south end of Chora, is the destination, with less frequent runs to the New Port.
- Every 30 to 60 minutes in high season, roughly 08:15 to 22:15, and 15 to 20 minutes to Fabrika.
The taxi problem
- The rank is outside the Arrivals terminal.
- Mykonos has famously few taxis for the number of people who arrive, and in August they are not there when several flights land together.
- Plan the transfer rather than improvising it. The bus is cheap and it exists; the taxi may not.
