Belo Horizonte (CNF): the Conexao Aeroporto and the numbered lines
The Conexao Aeroporto runs 06:00 to midnight down two main avenues. Fifteen numbered routes also serve the airport and the towns around it.
- The Conexao Aeroporto line runs from 06:00 to midnight, along Avenida Antonio Carlos and Avenida Cristiano Machado into Belo Horizonte.
- Route 5250: Airport to Belo Horizonte via Av. Antonio Carlos.
- Route 5270: Airport to Belo Horizonte via Av. Cristiano Machado.
- Route 5260: Airport to Alvares Cabral Terminal. Route 5241 is the semi-express version.
- Route 5302: Confins town, via the airport, to Vilarinho Terminal.
- Two lines connect the airport to Pampulha, the lakeside district with the Niemeyer buildings.
- Conventional buses serve the neighbouring towns: Pedro Leopoldo, Lagoa Santa and Vespasiano, on routes 5110, 5119, 5120, 5121, 5280, 5303 and 5304.
- App cars pick up on the pavement in the middle lane.
- Accredited taxi cooperatives have counters in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, plus a rank outside the terminal before you cross the road.
- Do not accept an approach in the arrivals hall, even from someone in a uniform or with a badge. The airport says so explicitly.
The distance is the problem
- Confins is 38 km north of Belo Horizonte, in a different municipality, which is why the bus matters here more than at most Brazilian airports.
- The Conexao Aeroporto is the service designed for it, running 06:00 to midnight along two main corridors: Avenida Antonio Carlos and Avenida Cristiano Machado.
- Both roads run north-south through Belo Horizonte, so between them they cover most of where a visitor is likely to be staying.

- 5250 - Airport / Belo Horizonte via Av. Antonio Carlos.
- 5270 - Airport / Belo Horizonte via Av. Cristiano Machado.
- 5260 - Airport / Alvares Cabral Terminal.
- 5241 - Airport / Alvares Cabral Terminal, semi-express.
- 5302 - City of Confins, via the airport, to Vilarinho Terminal.
- 5280 - Vespasiano / Tancredo Neves International Airport.
- 5110, 5119, 5120, 5121 - Pedro Leopoldo and Lagoa Santa, various routings via the airport.
- 5303, 5304 - Cachoeira / Lagoa Santa.
- Two more lines run to Pampulha, which is where the Niemeyer church, the lake and the Mineirao stadium are.
Taxis and apps
- App cars (Uber, 99) pick up on the pavement in the middle lane outside the terminal, at designated points, 24 hours.
- Accredited taxi cooperatives have staffed counters in Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, and a rank outside the terminal - before you cross the road.
- The airport's own warning is blunt: do not let yourself be approached in the arrivals hall, even by someone who looks like a taxi driver with a uniform or a badge. Go to a counter or the marked rank.
Two airports, one city
- Confins (CNF) is the international one, 38 km out. Pampulha (PLU) is the small city airport, much closer in, used for a handful of regional flights.
- Check which one your ticket says, because the difference is 45 minutes of road.
- Belo Horizonte is Brazil's third-largest metropolitan area and the gateway to the colonial towns of Minas Gerais - Ouro Preto, Tiradentes, Congonhas.
