The line

  • Line 2 runs Acesso Norte to Aeroporto, 12 stations, about 28 minutes end to end.
  • At Acesso Norte it meets line 1, which carries on into the centre and to Lapa.
  • Peak frequency is every 10 minutes: 07:00 to 08:00 on weekdays and Saturdays, and 17:30 to 18:30 on weekdays only.
  • Every other time, including the whole of Sunday, trains run every 15 minutes.

Fares

  • The metro fare is 4.10 reais, set by the state government.
  • An integrated fare covering the metro plus city buses, the STEC and the BRT is 5.90 reais.
  • For a journey of this length in a city this size, that is very cheap, and it is much the best way in from the airport.

Practical notes

  • Look for the transfer bus rather than a metro entrance when you leave the terminal. There is no station in the building.
  • Line 2 does not reach the historic centre directly. Change at Acesso Norte for line 1 and the Pelourinho end of the city.
