Getting from Afonso Pena International Airport to the city

The Aeroporto Executivo

• A minibus runs between the airport and central Curitiba for 12 reais.
• Six fixed stops: the Rodoferroviaria bus and rail terminal, Teatro Guaira, the Receita Federal, the public library, Rua 24h and Shopping Estacao.
• Work out which of those is nearest your hotel before you board, because it is a fixed route rather than a door to door service.
• It runs roughly every 20 minutes, on separate timetables for weekdays, Saturdays, and Sundays and holidays.
• To find it, leave by door A, opposite domestic arrivals, and turn right. The stop is between doors A and B.

The cheaper route

• Line E32 runs from the airport to Terminal Boqueirao.
• It goes every 20 minutes between 05:40 and 23:20.
• The fare is 5.90 reais with a Metrocard, 6.00 in cash, or 6.13 paying with a bank card on the vehicle validator.
• Boqueirao is a physically integrated terminal: 22 lines meet there and you can change to any of them without paying again.
• For the centre, take line 503 from Boqueirao to Praca Carlos Gomes.
• Coming back to the airport, do the same in reverse: reach Boqueirao, then take E32.

Which to take

• Twelve reais direct against six with a change. With luggage, in the rain, or late in the evening, the Executivo earns its extra six.
• Curitiba's bus network is genuinely good, and the free interchange at Boqueirao makes the cheap route more useful than it sounds.
• Uber and 99 both work here and are the fallback outside those hours.
