Getting from Biju Patnaik International Airport to the city

A very short journey

• Bhubaneswar railway station is about 3 km from the airport.
• The drive takes 10 to 15 minutes.
• That makes every option here cheap, and it makes the choice about convenience rather than money.

Mo Bus

• Mo Bus is Odisha's state run city network, and route 10 is the one that serves the airport.
• It is the only scheduled bus that links the airport directly with the city core.
• The fare is 10 to 20 rupees. Across the network, air conditioned buses run 5 to 70 rupees and non air conditioned 5 to 55.
• It runs every 20 to 30 minutes in the peak, roughly 07:00 to 21:00.
• The Odyssey Card takes 20 per cent off the base fare and other digital wallets 10 per cent.
• Route 10 carries on to Nandankanan, the zoo, and to Cuttack.

The 22:00 problem

• Mo Bus stops running at 22:00. There is no night service.
• After that the prepaid counter inside arrivals is the sensible option, because it is open around the clock and it fixes the price.
• Late night drivers quoting inflated fares are a known problem here, and an auto negotiated on the kerb should be around 160 rupees rather than whatever is first suggested.

Prices

• Prepaid taxi to the railway station: 215 to 265 rupees, no surge, 5 to 8 minutes' wait at the counter.
• Ola or Uber: 170 to 235 rupees, 10 to 15 minutes.
• Auto rickshaw: about 160 rupees negotiated.
• There is no official luggage charge in Bhubaneswar, so a driver adding one is inventing it.
